Rita M. Schuur, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at her home in Little Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Rita Margaret Copa was born May 21, 1934, in Little Falls, Morrison County, to the late William and Hattie (Ringwelski) Copa. She attended Little Falls High School graduating in 1952. Rita was united in marriage to Joseph Schuur, July 11, 1953, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. Following their marriage, Rita and Joe moved to Chicago, Ill., and later to Fridley. In 1974, the couple moved to Little Falls. Joe died March 6, 1998. Rita worked in Little Falls as a realtor for Century 21 and at ERA Realty. She retired in 1996. After her retirement, Rita volunteered at the St. Francis Clothes Review and at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, going to the casino and spending time with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, William Schuur of Little Falls, Joseph (Vicki) Schuur of Corcoran and Deborah Zinniel of Maple Grove; brothers, Ray (Karen) Copa of Leech Lake, John (Marge) Copa of Little Falls and a sister, Mary Ann Pennebecker of Waupaca, Wis,; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Schuur in 1998; son, James Schuur in 1961; parents, William and Hattie Copa and brothers, Mark and Thomas Copa.
Casketbearers were Tony Copa, Kimberly Copa-Voytko, Jeff Copa, Mike Copa, Brad Zinniel and Sam Schuur.
